Giselle is putting together a family reunion in San Francisco this June so this conversation actually did come up.

It's Spring in New York. The weather is perfect and the flowers and trees are in bloom (and so are my allergies). I can see the little bright green leaf buds on the stems outside our window. Last night it got so warm I half-considered turning on the air conditioner.

Kurt Vonnegut

This afternoon I was listening to NPR give tribute and elegize Kurt Vonnegut. Then a news brief came on about Don Imus getting fired and it made me wonder what side Vonnegut would have been. Kurt was all about Free Speech and it's rather hypocritical that Imus gets fired for calling the Rutger's Women's basketball players ‘Nappy-headed ho’s.’ If Eminem or Lil Kim had said that, they'd say, that's just 'trash talk'.

Personally, I'd like to think that Imus was getting fired not for what he said, but for just being a pompous ass.
