Alido in Chelsea

Both the Gay Pride parade and Coney Island Mermaid Parade went on this weekend. Though it was so damn hot the last two days, G and I decided to stay home with the aircon blasting instead. This does not bode well for the rest of the summer.

On the upside, it's restaurant week
the free movies at Bryant Park
and the free concerts at Prospect Park.

Batman and Robbing the Cradle

Tom Cruise, 42 is engaged to Katie Holmes, 26? Well at least that's not as bad as Michael Douglas or Billy Joel. Is it a made up relationship set up by Tom's agent? Who cares, she got a 15 karat rock on her hand. You go girl!

So G and I saw Batman begins and thought it was awesome. So much better than any of the other previous Batman films, it really does justice to the Dark Knight and Year 1 comic books. I'd even say it was better than any of the Star Wars prequals.

Christian Bale does an amazing job. The only weak link was that I didn't buy Katie Holmes playing an Assistant District Attorney. She's not bad, but they should have changed her character to a cub reporter on the crime beat, at least it would have fit her demeanor. Or maybe cast somebody tougher like Julia Stiles or Jessica Alba or even Brittany Murphy.

Students in Union Square

It's been a busy first week at Digitas: Trying to learn the names of a dozen new people I meet each day. Trying to get up to speed on the various accounts I'm in charge of. Still it's exciting and I'm having a blast.

G's exhibiting the first printing of her book "Strength and Struggle", at the MOCCA Arts Expo (Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art). It's an illustrated journal of her experiences going through Leukmia. She's been working on this book for the last 5 years so I'm very proud that she's finally published it. She even sold 4 copies of it yesterday!

I just rode the American Diabetes Association's Tour de Cure ride this morning with my friend Earle. It was a great 50 mile ride though it's super hot and muggy right now, so that was unpleasant. Thankfully one of the perks at the end of the ride was free massages performed by the students of the Sweedish Massage Institute.

Golden Trailer 6

It's been a rather busy and momentous 10 days. G and I have returned from a big trip out to the west coast. We flew out to LA to attend the Golden Trailer Awards. This year it was hosted by Harland Williams as well of a bunch of other comedian friends including Saturday Night Live's Kenan Thompson.

Since Memorial Day was also our 5th wedding anniversary, we drove up to SF to celebrate it with our parents (my mom drove up with us). It that wasn't enough, we also both got new jobs. I'll be starting Monday at Digitas where I'll be the ACD on American Express. G has just come on staff at Smart Money magazine.

And I thought it was going to be a quiet summer.
