Oktoberfest

Beer was flowing aplenty this Saturday at the Von Steuben Day celebrations at Central Park to celebrate the start of Oktoberfest. Von Steuben, I was reminded, was a German soldier hired by Congress during the Revolutionary War to train Washington's volunteer soldiers and turn it into a disciplined professional army.

Remnants of hurricane Ivan made the day a little bit windy and soggy here in NY, but by Sunday, the sky was clear. The first chill of Fall is definitely in the air.

A big shout out the my friends Walter and Thom who were represent'n my old shop, DDB at the Battle of the Ad Bands benefit show tonight. They started off a little rocky but by the end of the their set, they were rocking hard. It made me miss my electric Strat which got stolen a while back.

Labor Day in Mexico

Giselle and I have just gotten back from a trip to Cozumel with our friends Kerry and Graham. Me and Graham spent much of the time scuba diving, while G and Kerry were on the beach. On Labor day we drove into the Yucatan to the ancient Mayan city of Chichen-Itza. I've posted pix and two Quicktime movies I took underwater. One shows a snorkeling couple chasing a barracuda, that I shot while I was doing a shore dive.

Big kudo's to the NY city police and public servants who helped keep the NY from going crazy during the RNC (ok, crazier than it usually is). Thankfully the protesters were mostly peaceful and orderly–even the anarchists.
