Artists at the Gates
Artists are by nature, overly sensitive. My friend Harris' footage in question (sans the offending VO slate) can be found here:

People have been asking me what I think about the Gates. I'm a bit cool on the final result, having seen his previous work in California (the Umbrellas) and finding them more impressive. Harris, despite his episode with Jean Claude and Christo, still appreciates having a large scale arts project in the city. My friend Melissa was far more ambivalent with her comment that they've succeeded in making Central Park look like a huge construction site. Art, as always, is subjective.
I hope y'all had a good Presidents Day weekend. We had a bit more snow over Sunday night, though it's mostly all melted already. That groundhog must have been right after all. For my friends Joe and Michelle it was an even more eventful weekend, as she had a baby girl Sunday (both are doing fine).
Valentines Gates
Happy Valentines for those of you with someone. Happy Black Monday for those of who aren't.
This weekend they opened the "Gates", art installation in Central Park by Environmental artist, Christo. While the weather was rather cold and overcast, it didn't stop throngs of people from walking through the park as if it were summer. Giselle, Em and I went were among the many visitors on opening day. See Park Photos
This comical image is my friend Roz (though it could easily be her husband Harris for all I know) wearing an Afghan burka while walking through Central Park. My friend Roz is putting the burka on Ebay in a fundraising auction to for AïNA (a non-profit org that promotes grass roots media education in Afghanistan). Roz has just returned from a 3 month trip in Afghanistan, bringing this authentic burka with her.
Bid now for a good cause.

Bahaman Hang Over
I took Giselle to Nassau, Bahamas over the weekend for her birthday and we kept on running into Bill Clinton.
He was there (by himself) for some Bahamian government events of some sort. Nassau was packed with cruise ships and their passengers were all over the place. Wherever Bill was, they were crowded around him like groupies.
He left on Sunday for the Superbowl, about the same time we left for the flight back to NY.
I did a shark dive while I was down there.
