Easter Karma
Giselle and I had a busy Easter, since we're part of the church choir. We had brunch on Sunday to also celebrate the fact that she's been cancer free (leukemia) for 10 years now; quite a milestone.
Spring finally feels like it's arrived. I'm happy that I can start riding my bike without having to bundle up like the I was going skiing. Last year G and I bought folding bikes which we use to ride around doing errands as well as for exercise. I even started a website:
The Folding Bike Club
If you ever need to buy a bike, bike parts, or sports gear, please come back to this site and click through the sponsor link. I get a 5% commission which helps pay for the site. My sponsor sites have some of the best prices on the web so it's a good deal all around.
We're going to be starting to train for the Diabetes bike ride this June. Seems like a long time from now, but it's only 5 weeks (5 weekend rides) so we're getting started now.
Cluess on St. Paddy
Such was my St. Patrick's Day. What really surprised me is that there are more Irish bars in Long Island than in manhattan, yet this girl was absolutely clueless, as were her two friends.
What's also unbelievable is this weather. It was getting quite mild last week. I had started putting away my coats and clothes into storage, then bam, it starts snowing yesterday! Up in Boston it's still snowing.
Damn you Mr. Groundhog!
Ozzy had work done
What do Michael Jackson and Ozzy Osbourne have in common? Well one is a freak and the other plays a freak on stage.
Apparently more than you'd like to think. Ozzy went under the knife after being impressed by the improvements it's done for his wife Sharon. But not scared off by the likes of Mike, Joan Rivers, and the Cat Lady (Jocelyn Wildenstein).
Who needs plastic surgery when you have beer goggles? Tomorrow is St. Paddy's Day and NY will be full of drunks (and how is this different from any other day?). Don't forget to wear your green.
Erin go braugh!
(that mean's "Ireland be free" ya tossers!)
Movie Names
With the first day of Spring less than two weeks away, you'd hardly know it. The only green we can see around here are the St. Patrick's Day window dressing in the stores and bars around town. Another week of winter here in NY, with much of the snow melting and refreezing into ice.
I'm officially over Winter. I want the weather to warm up so I can start riding my bike and working on the spare tire that I grew since Fall. With that in mind, G and I have signed up to do the NY Tour de Cure Diabetes Ride on June 12.
I'm inviting y'all to join 'Team GT' and do the ride (there is a 62, 32, and 15 mile ride depending on your fitness level). If you can't join, then please send a check to sponsor us or one of our team riders.

Crazy and the Big Easy
Giselle and I took our first trip to New Orleans this past weekend. What an amazing town. It's a wonder I never visited before. It's probably the most enjoyable city in the deep south. I don't include Miami as it's not really the 'Deep South' so much as 'Deep Florida'. Her friend Tori ran the marathon there and was the absolutely last person to finish, but she did finish.
We stayed at my friend Tony's loft in the newly fashionable warehouse district; on the same block as Emeril Lugazi's restaurant. Were were just two blocks away from the D-Day museum (and the soon to be built National World War II museum). I'm a History Channel junkie, but even G that it was way cool.
Bourbon street is everything you'd expect and more. More drunks, more dirt, more vice. It made me wish for a moment that I'd visited in my wilder college days but then perhaps it's a good thing. New Orleans I should point out, often ties with Washington D.C. for the most murders per capita of any major city in the U.S. Who cares, the food is great and you can drink while walking on the street!
Just a word of advice from the locals: If it's not Mardi Gras, don't try to get women to flash their boobs. Only drunk, asshole, tourists do that. Like I said, maybe its a good thing I didn't visit when I was younger.
