Rush and Moore

Given the charged atmosphere in this election season, I'll probably get some flame mail from people who are disgusted that I compared Michael Moore to Rush Limbaugh or vis versa. But no matter your personal politics, if you want to see a 'real' documentary I can recommend "Control Room" a movie about the Iraq War as seen from the people who work at Al Jazeera.

Politics aside, I'm working at Y&R for next couple of weeks on Colgate. Yup the toothpaste. Not very a 'creative' brand (at least not in this country) but since I'm getting a decent day-rate, I'm not complaining.

Looking Presidential

Giselle and I have returned from a trip to Hawaii and Boston.

Got to go scuba with my friends at Waikiki Diving. Can you believe I caught a cold just before we left Hawaii? G's got it now, poor girl.

We returned from Hawaii via Boston, where we went to a very disappointing MacWorld Expo. Apple and most of the other main vendors opted not to attend when they announced that the East-coast Expo was not going to be in NY this year. So the show was pathetically small.

We did manage to see Spider-Man 2 and the new Harry Potter film. And both are sequels that are better than the previous films. Harry Potter finally has a director that's created a film that captures the magical quality of the books (rather than previous two films directed by Home Alone 2 director Chris Columbus).

And on the flight, we caught "Jersey Girl", Kevin Smith's best film to date. We avoided it when it was in the theatres because of J-Lo and Ben were in it, but G and I were both surprised that it was pretty funny, well done and cute. A good date rentral or for a young family (before the kids can talk because of the language).

Dan Quayle Teaches

The weather here has been remarkably mild for summer (though still quite muggy). I've been doing more freelance work at i-traffic again. Next week G and I head back to Hawaii for a few days (her friend's wedding), then off to Boston to attend MacWorld. Sometimes having not being tied down to a full-time job is a good thing.

Have a happy July 4th. G and I will be watching the fireworks from our roof.
