Low Carb LA

Giselle and I are headed out to LA tomorrow for the Golden Trailer awards next Tuesday. I've been super busy this week working on the show program book, pulling late night and an all nighter to get it out at 6am on Tuesday morning. I can only imagine how much more slammed and hectic life is for my friends who are getting the actual show together. Tom Green's hosting this year, so that should be interesting.

To try and relax a bit, I rode my bike down to Coney Island and back. About 20 miles, but quite easy as there's a tree covered bike path almost the entire way (except for the people who insist on strolling/walking in the bike path even though there is a clearly marked 'walking' path next to it!) I can finally say I had an 'original Nathan's' hot dog at Coney Island.

Tag Team Visit

This week we had visits from two totally unrelated friends. Our friend Ling stayed overnight on her way back to Hawaii from a Zen retreat in upstate New York. On the same day she left, Kanako, G's friend from college, flew in from Tokyo. NEC had flown her and her boss out to receive a One Show Interactive pencil (they won best of show!).

Neither expected the early summer-like weather we've had. I cranked up the aircon for the first time this week. I'm not looking forward the hot muggy summer but I'm happy to have an air-conditioner unlike old apartment in Manhattan.

Spork

Our friend Ling, a marine biologist from Hawaii, was in town this weekend and we took her to see a new Broadway play, "Jumpers" which can best be described as a philosophy lecture wrapped in a comedy, dressed as a murder mystery. It's a new play from London and it was quite entertaining.

We also enjoyed the floral splendors of Spring at the Brooklyn Botanical gardens at their annal Cherry Blossom festival. We were rather disappointed by the rather limited amount of Japanese foods available at the 'festival', which is rather odd as that's a major component of festivals in Japan.

Unfortunately have been lived on an island in the middle of the Pacific for two years, I forgot one other thing about Spring in New York. Allergies. Even with Claritin, I'm feeling like crap C'est la vie, And I can't believe it's May already?!

By the way, this is where I saw that spork. Evidently it makes a great gift for a 'Sporting and Adventurous Mom"
