TGI Sauce

The summer's well underway here. G and I got to see a free concert by Los Lobos at Prospect Park the other night. G saw her first firefly.

This weekend, our friend Ev invited to a lake house, owned by the family of an old high-school friend of hers. Us guys in the group spent the day kicking back beers and fishing off their boat dock, though I was the only one who didn't catch a fish.

Mr. J-Lo and Passings

Reagan and Ray Charles pass away, and J-Lo gets married...it's the circle of life in a twisted way.

I grew up with Reagan as president and my political views have changed radically despite an overly liberal L.A. public-school education. And while I have new found respect for the 40th president, I thought the funerary ceremonies seemed to go on way too long. It was nearly a week of news coverage and Friday's ceremonies started in the early morning on the East Coast and ended in the evening on after they flew his body to back to California. That's a full day plus 3 time zones.

I've been freelancing at iTraffic (that's an interactive ad devision of Agency.com), working on a new business pitch. It's been interesting working downtown. I mean really downtown. Their offices are a block from the New York Stock Exchange. Unfortunately, like working in mid-town, the food choices are few and too often expensive.

People ask if I miss Hawaii. Well I definitely miss getting a delicious bento box lunch for only $2.50.

Golden Trailer Awards

G and I went to LA last week for the Golden Trailer Awards, hosted by Tom Green this year. I've never been that huge of a fan of his, but I was delightfully surprised–he was really, really good host. Probably the best show so far. I briefly got a chance to talk to him after the show and he's a pretty laid back and straight guy off-stage. No, I didn't get a photo with him, I thought that was waay too cheesy to ask him to pose for one.

I got to hang out at my mom's, though most of the time I was suffering through really, really, bad pollen allergies–another reason I could never live in LA again. I'm sure it didn't help that she recruited me to help her till and reseed the front lawn.

And my friends who started the Golden Trailer Awards were on the NPR game show "Wait, wait, don't tell me." the other day. You can listen to the entire show. They come in about 18 minutes into the show, for those of you who want to cut to the chase.
