Starbucks Coffee and A Brazilian

My mom is out here for a week, visiting us. She wanted to see our new place in Brooklyn and 'she approves'. We all went out on Wednesday night to attend the Golden Trailer Awards nominations party and had a blast. It was great to see lots of old friends there that I hadn't seen in ages.

While walking from the subway station to the GTA party, a guy zips past us in Segway. Turns out it was my old writing partner, Harris Silver ( http://www.citystreets.org ) who was heading to a totally unrelated party after giving a speach at the Apple Store in Soho. New York is such a amazingly small world at times.

Speaking of segways, did you know that Brazil is not just a country best known for it's skimpy swim wear, but it's also the worlds largest exporter of coffee? Which brings me to my rant for the week on coffee and an urban legend I've heard that Starbucks burns their coffee. My response to that can be found here: http://www.tomdelmundo.com/blog/starbucks.html

Peeps

You know, you get these emails from me every week. Well my friend Greg Nemic sends me emails every week of his experiences in fatherhood. So I guess since he'll be getting this cartoon from me, it'll be a weird sort of de'ja vu.

Happy Easter

The weather here in New York is somewhat schizophrenically winter-like but my pollen allergies can attest that it's definitely Spring. Yesterday it seemed like it was going to be a warmish day in the mid-50's so I decided to finally get back on the bike (after over a year of not riding) and take a ride around Prospect park. Sadly I have lost all the endurance from when G and I were riding regularly in Hawaii. On the pathetically small hill near Zoo I had to stop to catch my breath! It started raining (an ice cold rain at that) at which point I quickly limped home. Oh well, more reason to exercise regularly.

Well Happy Easter kids.
